Bio Hazard CV
One of the more surprising announcements out of the Second New Challenge Conference
in Japan on October 6th, was Bio Hazard: Code Veronica. A Dreamcast exclusive, this
could very well be the game that pushes the Dreamcast ahead of the Playstation
in 1999.
Although details on the storyline have been relatively sketchy, reports from Japan
have indicated that Bio Hazard: Code Veronica will take place in Europe. As many
fans of the Bio Hazard aka Resident Evil series may remember, the location of
this game indicates that it will pick up right where the second game left off. Personally
I am glad that Capcom is going to continue with the same storyline. The first Bio Hazard
titles left alot of questions unanswered, and assumingly they will be answered in this
game. In addition to Bio Hazard: Code Veronica, Capcom is also rumored to be creating another
Playstation Bio Hazard title as well. It is very possible that the PSX game will also
feature an interrelated story as well.
As you can judge from the first screen shots of this game, the graphics are extremely realistic. This of course means, uglier zombies, more blood, and scarier looking monsters. The Playstation Bio Hazard titles, for a lack of a better term, flat out scared the shit out of me. With the power of the Dreamcast, Bio Hazard: Code Veronica will likely consist of zombies so life like you'll feel as if you are inside the game rather than playing it.
Capcom is certainly capable of creating this sort of atmosphere within their games and
I am definitely looking forward to seeing this take place on the Dreamcast.
One of the things that would be really cool, is if Capcom decided to throw in
modem support. How great would it be, to have two player stimultaneous
play over the modem while you battle through the game? Or how about an online Bio Hazard: Code Veronica death match? Although these things probably won't happen,
the thought of these potential gameplay elements are possible with the Dreamcast.
Capcom of Japan has yet to release specific details on Bio Hazard: Code Veronica, but
we should start hearing more in the upcoming months. Currently, Bio Hazard: Code Veronica
is slated for a release in Japan sometime in 1999.
